Galatians 4: 4-7 NLT

"But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir."

This was the passage that was highlighted in my Bible reading today. It is also the passage that our Pastor highlighted during church yesterday. I believe God places things like this, repetitions of the same passage or sermon theme, in our paths in order to drive home a point.

Yesterday was our Children's Ministry's Christmas presentation. It was a modern take on 'Annie'. The young Annie, living in a orphanage, only wanted one thing for Christmas, a family. A family of her own was her deepest heart's desire.

Many of us feel that way. You may even be an orphan in the truest sense of the word. We can all feel orphaned in our reality; because our parents are deceased, because we are separated from our family by too many miles or because of turmoil in our relationship. Many things can contribute to this sense of loss in relationship to family.

This passage is explicit in the truth that God wants each of us to know. YOU are HIS Child. You are not an orphan. God is your Father, your Abba, your Daddy. He sent His Son, Jesus, into the world for this reason alone. So that you and I could be called, and redeemed, as His children. With all the rights and privileges of an heir. An heir to forever. An heir to life everlasting as a part of the family of God.

If you don't know Jesus as your Savior, today is the day. Jesus knows you and He is waiting for you to reach for Him. He's there. Just ask. Talk to Him. Become a Child of God. Here's a link to one of my devotionals, Invitation, that will walk you through the salvation prayer. Claim your inheritance.
