Walking Through Fire
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Names synonymous with walking through fire. As you read through Daniel 3 we see the story of these three guys. Three guys who are like you and me. Three guys who decided to take a stand. Three guys who believed in the power of God. No matter what was going to come their way, they believed God would see them safely through anything.
Even bound they believed that God would save them. Three guys go in, yet King Nebuchadnezzar sees four guys walking around in the flames. He shouts out that it must be the Son of God walking through the fire with the three guys.
"He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”
Three guys, believing that God would save them, are thrown into the fire. Three guys come out of the fire. Alive and well. A powerful story that speaks to our hearts.
I was struck by this section in particular. They were bound when they were thrown into the fire. However, when they walked out of the fire, they were no longer bound. Something spectacular to take away from these three guys. We might walk into the fire bound, but we will come out of the fire unbound. No matter what, walking through the fire with Jesus, makes us stronger.
No matter what we are facing, no matter how bound we might be, no matter what we have to walk through, we will come out stronger, because Jesus is walking through it with us.
"Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God."
