Stay Calm

Have you ever been in a position where you just lose sight of your good intentions? We've all been there. Justifiably or not, we can lose our cool. The trouble is, it's really hard to hear the Spirit of God when we are yelling. What do we do when we are on the edge of no where to run? When we lose our cool we can let loose with our tongues and say things that should never have been said. We may be speaking truth, but the truths are disguised by vicious words. We can strike fear into the hearts of our foes, because our words are slashing in their intensity. When we loose our cool, we can do unimaginable hurt with the power of our words. God's word tells us to 'just stay calm.' God will help us when we feel like our backs are against the wall. He will be there when we get cornered in a conversation. When we feel close to loosing our cool, stop and take a breath. Stay calm. Listen. Hear the words of wisdom given to you by the Spirit of the Living God, before you move your mouth. Exodus 14:14 NLT "The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” Moses and the Israelites were cornered at the edge of the sea. Sure death coming as the army tracked them to the sea. They were standing on the edge of no where left to run. They couldn't see a way out. They felt cornered and afraid. God said these words to them. Exodus 14:15 NLT

"Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!" Verse 14 tells us to 'Just stay calm'. Verse 15 tells us to 'get moving'. To move because God told us move. Don't wait for courage. God will provide us with courage as we move. Whether it is a physical move from one place to the next or the all important movement of our mouths. All the courage we need will be supplied when we need it. Paraphrasing these verses is easy in retrospect. It's when we are in the moment that we find it difficult. Remember them when you find yourself standing on the edge of no where to run.

Stay calm. Listen. Do what you're told and then move. God will provide you with all the courage you will need.
