Have you ever been knee deep in legal paperwork? It's a drag. It's important stuff, and the end result is usually beneficial, but the only way to get through it is to wade right in. Rules and legalism have their place. Getting from one place to another would be more difficult than it already is, if we didn't know the rules of the road. Can you imagine the chaos? There are rules for games, classrooms and homework. There are rules in our own offices and at our doctors office. There are etiquette rules and Roberts Rules. Legally speaking there are rules for just about everything, guidelines to help us live well in civilized society. The laws of Moses were rules to help the Israelites live well in a civilized society. A group of people who trusted in the rules and guidelines established by Almighty God. Special rules for eating, cleaning and teaching. Rules for legal reasons to establish hierarchy and heredity. Rules for cleansing one of sin and rules that outlined the repercussions for disobedience. Jesus is the best thing ever. Legally speaking He stands as our legal counsel in matters of our salvation, He covers all of our sin debt, and He is always available, pro bono. Mercy and Grace are the gifts we receive from Jesus upon our salvation. Mercy covers the repercussions of our disobedience and all the legal issues associated thereof. Grace helps us live in a civilized society that honors God. Grace establishes and instructs us in the guidelines instituted by the Word, as it applies to our everyday lives. Truth is, without Jesus, I don't know where our society would be today, but I do know that having a relationship with Jesus is the only way to live. Loving Jesus means living well, because only He makes it possible to have that secure feeling of 'It is well with my soul.' Live well my friends. Live well! John 1:16-17 Voice "Through this man we all receive gifts of grace beyond our imagination. You see, Moses gave us rules to live by, but Jesus the Anointed offered us gifts of grace and truth."
