Sleepless nights only make for longer days. Tossing and turning over worry and anxious thoughts, doesn't accomplish much more than causing our sheets to get twisted. Yet, each of us have moments in our lives when we struggle with anxiety and fear. A health crisis, financial setback or concerns over children, parents or other family tends to send us in the direction of tossing and turning. Uncertainty about how things are going to happen, might happen surface in the dark. We hash out all the what ifs and walk through every possible scenario that invade our minds. When we think of our hurts, struggles and the things that cause us pain, we need to know that God has also been there in those moments with us. God is there when you get all twisted up inside. God is there when your tears fall. God is there as we moan and ache our way through the uncertainties of life. Every tear is counted. Every moan and ache is heard. Everytime you toss and turn, God is there. What we should do is turn to God and find peace.
Like every child who can't sleep and turns to their parents for comfort, we should turn to our Father when we are tossing and turning. When our fears and doubts are taking us out for a spin we should call on our Father. When we are running wild scenarios in our heads, we should reach out to our Father. When we are hurt and aching we should cling to Abba as our tears fall. We should turn to our Father and we will find peace. Psalm 56:8 MSG "You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights, Each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book."
