Head East

Guilt can eat you alive. From the inside out we can feel the burden of our sins. Our poor decisions and bad behavior are here, in this moment, instead of in the past where they belong. Our minds recount the moments, with what seems like clear vision, while the voice in our head screams that we can never recover. Never be forgiven. Not true. When the devil, who is a liar, brings those memories back up to you, you have to take a stand and turn away. Repentance. It's one of those words that we don't really understand. Repent means to feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin. Express your wrongdoing to Jesus. Say the words and ask for forgiveness. When you ask for forgiveness, Mercy and Grace show up. When we cast our misguided mistakes, the results of our choices, the choices that we actively participated in, our sins, at the feet of Jesus, He sets us apart from them. That is Mercy and Grace. Repent and turn away. We've heard these words but how do we live it out? When the memories flood in, dry them up quickly by knowing that you are forgiven. Shout it out if necessary. I am forgiven and I am loved. Once forgiven our sins are separated from us as far as the east is from the west. My sins, your sins, our sins. God's love for us is even larger than than the measurement of east and west. God calculates that His love for us is larger and higher and so much farther than the distance from earth to heaven. That is so much more than we can possibly comprehend. Measuring the distance from the east to the west could be scientifically calculated. Measuring from here to heaven is farther and larger and so much more than we can possibly calculate. So vast, in fact, that the east and west are consumed in its measurement. When memories are tormenting you, you can clearly say NO! Not anymore. I am forgiven and loved. Forgiven and loved means that the dividing line between yesterday and today is vast. Think of it this way. If you are traveling east, you will continue traveling east unless you turn around. East is always farther than you might think, unless. It's when we turn around and head back to where we were before, that things can get dicey. Keep your eyes on the eastern horizon and you'll find peace. Jesus is the Bright and Morning Star, after all. Head east, towards tomorrow and keep your eyes on Jesus.  Psalm 103:8-12 MSG "God is sheer mercy and grace; not easily angered, he’s rich in love. He doesn’t endlessly nag and scold, nor hold grudges forever. He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve, nor pay us back in full for our wrongs. As high as heaven is over the earth, so strong is his love to those who fear him. And as far as sunrise is from sunset, he has separated us from our sins."
