The Potential for Joy
Circumstances change us from the outside in; God changes us from the inside out. It's a matter of perspective. Consider how we choose to see ourselves, how we see our world, how we see our situation. Is there potential for Joy? Joy doesn't happen because our circumstances change. Joy doesn't happen because we have the situation under control. Joy doesn't happen because we are right and everyone else is wrong. Joy doesn't happen because we 'will it' to happen. Yes, we can fake it for a while, and we can fool some of the people, but we can't pretend Joyfulness for long. Psalm 30:5 MSG "The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter." Joy happens because we have faith that our circumstances will change. Joy happens because believe that with God's help, there is potential to change the circumstances. Joy happens because we trust that God has a plan and a purpose in our circumstances, that will provide that potential. Joy happens when we are grateful, even in the middle of our mess. When we trust (believe and have faith) that God will deliver us out of our circumstances, we experience Joy. Joy happens out of the expectation of what God is going to do and is doing. Joy is the result of a grateful heart. Psalm 30:11-12 MSG "You did it: you changed wild lament into whirling dance; You ripped off my black mourning band and decked me with wildflowers. I’m about to burst with song; I can’t keep quiet about you. God, my God, I can’t thank you enough."
