Nothing healthy grows in the dark. Mold. Fungi. Slime. They all thrive in the dark. They begin life in darkness and take footholds. They seep into crevices and cracks and eventually they take over. Turning what was once pristine into something else altogether. We can attempt to clean up the slimy spot by patching and sprucing up the area. If that doesn't work, we can try to bleach it or we can attempt to cover it up with paint. It's all cosmetic until we break it down to the real problem. We can't get rid of the slime without taking a hard look at the actual break in the structure. What we really need to do is open the door and bring in the light. Shame. Failure. Disappointments. They are like the slime in our lives. They grow and thrive in the darkness. They seep into our minds and cause all kinds of havoc. Their negative influence can turn what was once a place of clarity into a place of confusion and turmoil. When we expose those places to the Light we can suddenly see. Seeing the issue from a fresh perspective can take away its powerful stronghold in our lives. Jesus is the Light of the world. If you're living in a land of deep shadows and darkness you need exposure to the Light of Jesus.
Turn it all over to Jesus. In building terms, He is an amazing carpenter who can rebuild and restore. What we may consider the ruins within our lives, within our circumstances, are transformed and renewal will be revealed. When Jesus restores us everything changes.
Light therapy. Sunbursts of His Great Light. Jesus is the Light of the world.
Isaiah 9:2 MSG "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. For those who lived in a land of deep shadows— light! sunbursts of light!"
