Early this morning my brother sent me a photo as he was having the foundation poured for his new house. The photo was of a tightly shrink wrapped Bible placed inside the foundation prior to the concrete pour. What a cool idea and such a blessing in the years to come. As I went through the day I considered the word foundation. A foundation is the basis upon which something stands or is supported. An underlaying base or support. As I read the Word and studied different aspects surrounding foundations, I found these words. 1 Peter 2:5-6 NLT "And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God. As the Scriptures say, “I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honor, and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Read that passage again. We are each living stones. Living stones that God is building into His spiritual temple. Stones that are standing on the Foundation of Christ. As the saying goes 'a rolling stone gathers no moss'. We, you and I, are LIVING STONES. No moss grows on an active living stone. We are to be awake, alert and ready to go about the Father's business. We are to be actively sharing our faith with others as we go about our daily lives. We are to be generous with our time, talents and treasures. Giving and receiving, as needed, to be able to work with well with others. When we trust in Jesus we will have everything that we need to do whatever He asks us to do. We are each a Living Stone that is part of God's plan. We are each being built into His spiritual temple. Wherever we go and wherever we live we bring our Foundation with us. With Jesus as our Foundation and our Cornerstone, we have all that we need wherever our foot might fall.
