John and the Beginning
Who was John? John is considered one of Jesus' best friends while He was here on earth. John the only one of the original 12 disciples who died of old age. John was the author of five books in the New Testament and became known as John of Patmos, who wrote Revelation. John, who was with Jesus from the start of his ministry, all the through to His accession, and beyond. The John who begins his Gospel with 'The Beginning' and Jesus' role in creation. John 1:3-5 MSG "Everything was created through him; nothing—not one thing!— came into being without him. What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out." John would meet Jesus on the day after He was baptized. John began as a disciple to John the Baptist until he met The Lamb of God. John and his brother James, the sons of thunder, ran after Jesus. Jesus said to them 'Come, follow Me' and they did. John would follow Jesus the rest of his life. John's mother, Salome, also became a disciple and would be one of the women who visited the empty tomb on the great and glorious day of the Resurrection. What a day! What a glorious day! John. A simple fisherman who became a "fisher of men". John who is known as 'the disciple whom Jesus loved'. John. John has a lot to say and a lot tell us.
