Shirley and Marcy
Shirley Goodnest and Marcy. The punchline to the old joke about the little boy walking to school on his own. His Mom, concerned for him, asked a friend and her daughter to walk behind him to school. His friend asks him who they are and he explains "every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers 'cuz she worries about me so much. And in it, the prayer psalm says, "Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life. So I guess I'll just have to get used to it."
Psalm 23:6 KJV "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life."
Hallelujah! And this verse goes on to conclude with a promise for our future too.
"and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
Hallelujah again! This is an endearing story that we should each take to heart. May this Psalm, this promise and provision from God, be our own prayer for ourselves and our loved ones. Psalm 23 (paraphrased by Peggy) Father, You are my shepherd, my guidance and provider. You offer me comfort, rest and restoration; all in an abundance of peace. You quench my thirst out of refreshing steams of living water. Even when darkness and fear come, I know You will provide me with Your light and guidance; I am never alone. You provide me with provisions when I am attacked; You anoint my head with oil and my cup, my very life, runs over with your grace and love. Your goodness and mercy follow me as I walk through life; yesterday, today and forever. Thank you for your love and provisions for myself and my loved ones. Forever. In Jesus most blessed name, Amen
May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy follow you too!
