As I went to funeral to say goodbye to a friend today, I was struck by the memories and hope that were evoked during the service. I could hear my Momma’s voice singing Glorious Day and imagine that moment when she met her maker face to face. I pictured my sister-in-law twirling in the billowy skirt of her heavenly dress as she skipped joyfully through the streets of gold. As we heard the words of promise that Jesus is preparing a place for us, I saw my friend walking the halls of new home, wonderment on her face as the details of the design were revealed to her. Satisfied. Psalm 17:15 NLT “Because I am righteous, I will see you. When I awake, I will see you face to face and be satisfied.” We know that our hope, our future is assured in and through Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself told us that He is preparing a place for us; (John 14:2-3) a place for us in our Father’s house. I’m singing Big House right now too. Yep. It’s a big, big house. It’s got a big, big table, a big, big yard, and lots and lots of food. (And for those who are fans, there will be football.) God alone knows what He has in store for us as He plans for our arrival. We will be satisfied. Want will be a thing of the past. Sadness and pain will be transformed into joyful dancing. Joy, laughter and contentment. Longing, loneliness and anxiety are gone forever. Daily doses of delight, jubilation and happiness are the blessings that await us forevermore. Our heart’s desires (Psalm 37:4) are on the mind of Jesus as He is making ready for us. In our Father’s house there are many rooms. Spectacular, spacious rooms. Our rooms are being made ready right now, and we will be satisfied. Satisfied. Content and pleased. We can count on it. We will be satisfied on that glorious day. What a glorious day that will be when we see Jesus face to face.
