Comfort and Peace
Mourning the loss of a loved one is one of the most difficult things we experience in life. We can find ourselves lost in the feelings. But for God. One of God’s many promises is to comfort us in our mourning. His promises, His love, will see us through the darkness and despair, and we will find ourselves in His Light. God’s promises are filled with comfort and peace. Matthew 5:4 NLT “God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” When we are wracked and wreaked with the crushing weight of a broken heart, God is there to rescue us. He rescues us and lifts our heads once more. Psalms 34:18 NLT “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Mourning will turn from despair into joyful remembrances; from languishing in sadness into dancing with praise. Our strength is found in the promises of God. Isaiah 61:3 NLT “To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.” When mourning is upon us, may we stand as mighty oaks, our strength deeply rooted in the knowledge, wisdom and promises of our Father. God is always faithful to keep His promises; He does comfort and He will bring peace. Count upon the Lord.
