As I listened to my daughter teaching my grandson how to mow the lawn with a push mower I was reminded. I was reminded of hearing the same words come from my mouth when I taught her. I was reminded of the same words coming from my mother’s mouth when she taught me. So much so that I texted my sister to reminisce. It was a hoot to hear and watch, and it was also a great reminder. Proverbs 22:6 NLT “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” As we teach and explore life with our kids (and grand-kids, family members and friends) we must be vigilant to ‘train them up in the way they should go’. Teaching life lessons like ‘The Golden Rule’, treat others the way you want to be treated. Clean up your own messes, doing it right the first time saves time and work, as well as the standard listening and following directions are a choice, so choose well. Love one another, as well as kindness, gentleness and generosity are worthwhile examples of God’s provision for our lifestyle plan. Remember to always be teachable, because learning is essential on the path of our life's journey. Today was a happy reminder that we pass on what we experience and learn to our children (and others) everyday. It was also a reminder to be the type of person that not only teaches, but demonstrates these valuable traits. We should all be actively involved in the process of a life lesson. Our actions speak so much louder than our words.
