I was reminded of wildflowers today. The kind of wildflowers that grow up out of the nowhere. The kind that we pick as kids and with enormous smiles present with such joy and happiness, clutched in our grubby little fists. The wildflowers that fill our hearts with memories and joy. Today, I was reminded to say thank you for the wonderful gift of God’s wildflowers.
My Momma and Granny were wonderful with flowers. They were also good friends to each other, and they were good friends to me. They taught me so much about flowers. Although, I can't say that I inherited either of their green thumbs. My thumb is more puce than true green. It's kind of hit and miss for me. My Momma would just shake her head at me and laugh her wonderful full of joy laugh. Granny Dot would get that twinkle in her eye and tell me to get back out there and keep trying. Now, today, because of the love of flowers that they shared with me, the knowledge they imparted, because of their joy, I can choose to find sweetness and beauty in what I have right here at home. Wildflowers. God's beauty on display.
Isaiah 35:2 NLT "Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy! The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon, as lovely as Mount Carmel or the plain of Sharon. There the Lord will display his glory, the splendor of our God.”
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves to look around. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves to be grateful and thankful. Grateful and thankful for what was, for what is, and most especially, for what is to come. God's world is full of possibilities and beautiful things. Beautiful things are right there...when we take the time to look and find the wildflowers in our life. Today may we be reminded to look. May we be reminded to stop and look at what's right there in front of us. Wildflowers are there. Beauty and joy are all around us. The Lord's glory and splendor is all around us. Wildflowers are everywhere.
