Crossing the Street
My husband and I recently visited Great Britain and Ireland. It was a wonderful trip that has filled us with lots of laughter and memories. One such memorable moment involved trying to figure out which way to look when stepping into traffic. As most of us know, here in the US we drive on the right, and over there they drive on the left. It has been pounded into our heads since we were small children to look left, then right and left again. Attempting to remember to recall the opposite of what we knew, was much harder than you’d think. It was a bit treacherous and laughable to watch us try and cross a busy street. It was a one foot in, oh no - jump back, yikes, come on, follow the crowd, run, let’s go for it attempts. They were mostly ‘let’s hope for the best’ kind of moments, with multiple and erratic attempts, filled with laughter, and the occasional scream. That is until we happened upon these amazing signs posted on the streets. Right there at our feet, right on the pavement that we were attempting to traverse, were clear instructions. Look left and look right, depending on the traffics path. Psalm 16:11 MSG “Now you’ve got my feet on the life path, all radiant from the shining of your face. Ever since you took my hand, I’m on the right way.” As I read this verse, I was reminded of those clearly posted instructions. I laughed and smiled and I knew in that moment, that God was laughing and smiling too. You know it, because His Word has the same clearly posted instructions. God’s instructions are right there in front of us, clearly posted for us to see. Whether we are standing still, content in our stillness or trembling as we attempt to traverse treacherous paths, God is always available to help guide us along our journey. We need to remind ourselves to stop and look, taking the time to seek His wisdom and guidance for our journey. God’s instructions are clearly posted to safely guide us as we find our way along life’s streets.
