Isn’t it funny how seriously we can take ourselves? We can get our dander up in a hurry, and with very little provocation. It happens so quickly that we, ourselves, can be surprised by our own reactions. Our responses, however, shouldn’t come as quickly or as such a surprise. Micah 6:8 MSG “But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what GOD is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, And don’t take yourself too seriously— take God seriously.” Our responses ought to be indicative of our faith. At least that’s the response we ought to strive towards. Yes, we can get caught up in the feelings of living, but we can also choose to be a better version of ourselves than our initial responses lead us to believe. The better version of ourselves should include God’s advice to be fair and just, compassionate and loyal, without taking ourselves too seriously. God’s grace surrounds us and our goals should include sharing His hope through our actions and our reactions. Don’t take yourself too seriously— take God seriously. Now, that is certainly sound advice.
