Stay in the Light

Job had it rough. It was a very bad time indeed. Marauders and thieves attacked his land. They stole his all his flocks, one after the other, and they killed all the farm hands. Then a sudden tornado took his ten children. It doesn’t stop there. After he shaves his head, he broke out in sores and rashes, and he itched. He itched badly. It was awful and overwhelming. His wife, herself in the throes of despair, only added to the complaints list. His friends were there for him, but only at first. Soon, they too joined the complaining and condemning bandwagon. Job, himself, feeling the pressure and loss, raises his own complaints. He just wants it all to stop. We can all relate to some part of Job’s story. Something bad happens, and then another and another, until we aren’t sure which way is up. We get frustrated and we complain about it to everyone who will listen. We look to our family and friends for support and we still find ourselves all alone with our complaints and our thoughts about our complaints. Except for the fact that we are never alone. God is always there. Job‬ ‭33:29-30‬ ‭MSG‬‬ “This is the way God works. Over and over again He pulls our souls back from certain destruction so we’ll see the light—and live in the light!” ‭‭ Job's friend, Elihu, was right on point here. God knows the things that we are experiencing. He knows that they are having an impact on us. God also knows that when we stop complaining, we will realize that we can lean into Him. When we stop for a minute and listen, we will know and understand, that with God’s help, we can get through and overcome. Everything will be alright. God’s faithfulness and love are holding tightly to us, and He never lets go. God never gives up on us, so hold tightly to Him. When things seem the darkest, look for the light. That’s God. Walk right there. Stay in the light, because it makes all the difference in the world. We CAN make it through with GOD.
