Yep, That’s Life
We have conversations everyday with people who are going through something. It might be something that’s terribly difficult, or kinda silly and fun, or an interesting dilemma that needs a little tweaking or creativity. Going through something is a common occurrence. Everyone is going through something, which is why we need one another, and why we need to be kind to one another. Kindness, compassion and forgiveness help us help each other make it through the 'something's' that we all have to deal with on this ride we call life. Ephesians 4:32 AMP “Be kind and helpful to one another, tender-hearted [compassionate, understanding], forgiving one another [readily and freely], just as God in Christ also forgave you.” Everybody is going through something. Everybody. Every one of us living life with all the little things that life entails. Our kids are clamoring for attention, their homework isn’t done, and dinner is burnt to a crisp. Our internet isn’t working right and that report was due yesterday, all while the coffee pot is on the fritz and our internal thermostat is adjusting for the fifteenth time today. We get a flat tire on our way to an appointment across town, only to find that the spare is flat too, and our phone is acting like a character from the twilight zone. We are running errands, sorting through the garage junk and trying to check something off of our never ending honey do list, all while we are thinking about how much we miss chatting with our Mom, our sister’s friend’s cousin needs a ride to a job interview, the lawn fertilizer is overdue, and it’s only 15 more weeks until Christmas. Yep, that’s life.
We smile and we speak loudly, we are calm and we are frustrated, we are weeping and we are laughing, we are thankful and we are praying for help. Cantankerous, funny, difficult, joyful and traumatic events happen all the time, and they are happening all around us. Yep. That’s life and we are all living it. We are all going to experience joy and grief and everything in between. We have to remember to be kind, compassionate and forgiving, because we don’t know what someone else is experiencing today. Yep, that’s life. Live it like Jesus hopes we will.
