It’s finally Friday. It’s been a very busy, some might even say, hectic week. Most of us are happy to know that Saturday is only a day away (that is unless your work week includes the weekend). Saturday’s are normally a day for catching up on those chores like laundry and shopping, yard work and home maintenance, and then we might even get to play and have a little fun. That is unless we were affected by the recent weather. Psalm 57:1-2 MSG “Be good to me, God—and now! I’ve run to you for dear life. I’m hiding out under your wings until the hurricane blows over. I call out to High God, the God who holds me together.” Some of us are experiencing or know someone who is experiencing the devastation that accompanied Hurricane Michael. For the people effected we understand that their Saturday will be right up there with the most hectic and heart felt days of their lives. Even if we weren’t touched by this particular situation, we can all relate.
Seasons of change are often difficult to understand, but we can trust that our God understands. Our God knows us and He knows our hearts and minds. He understands our fears and our trembling. He gets it when we are struggling with circumstances that we have no control over. Our God understands our weaknesses and our frustrations and His love is unfailing, constant and steadfast.
The good news is that God IS our refuge and He IS holding us together. The good news is that God has His hand upon us. The good news is that even under terrible circumstances, we know that we have God, and we can count on Him to see us through the fire. Remember, God didn’t take Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego out of the fire; He walked through the fire with them. The good news is that we have a God who is walking right along beside us. The good news is that we have a God that we can count on ... every single day of our lives.
