I had a conversation today concerning attitudes, and how a bad attitude is often the thing that gets us in trouble. We speak when we should have stayed quiet. We mumble when we should have spoken up for ourselves. Something that we thought would be funny, turns out to be hurtful. We procrastinated and put off that task for far too long, and now we’re in a jam. We may feel misunderstood, misconstrued and mistaken, but when we get right down to the real issue, it may be more about our own poor attitude than anything else. Romans 12:21 MSG “Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good.” Sometimes we don’t even realize our attitude is the issue until someone in our lives points it out to us. Occasionally we may find that we need an attitude adjustment. As the old adage says; ‘actions speak louder than words’. Another one that my mother was fond of saying is; ‘acting silly is all fun and games until someone gets hurt’. It all comes down to us. Just as this verse is teaching us, we have a choice. It’s our choice. We can let our attitude get the best of us, or we can get the best out of our attitude. A good attitude is a God thing, adjust it as needed.
