Stay Strong and Stand Strong
Yesterday was Veterans Day and today we continue to celebrate Veterans. A day to honor and acknowledge the many sacrifices of the men and women who have given their all in service to our country. As a military spouse I learned first hand something about that sacrifice. It’s difficult to be away from friends and family, the people in our lives who have always supported us the most. It’s difficult to head out to a new assignment or out on a mission and leave everything we know behind. It’s even more difficult when we realize that each and every one of those times may be the very last time for each and every one of those who serve; and yet they do it anyway. John 15:13 NLT “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Laying ones life down for a friend takes on new meaning when we consider all the many branches of service who risk it all for us on a daily basis. Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Marines; plus the Coast Guard, the Police, EMTs and Firefighters; all of their support staff and so many more. Everyone who risks it all on our behalf every single day.
Never forget the service of those who are in service, who have served and especially for those who have given their all by sacrificing their very lives. May we remember to have compassion and encouragement for those who have been injured in body, in mind and in spirit. For those invisible injuries that we are all aware of, but that they are trying so hard very not to show. Never forget and take every opportunity to say thank you, and to pray for their health, their safety and especially for their spiritual well-being.
3 John 1:2 says it all “I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” May we each stay strong and stand strong alongside of those who serve our country with their very lives. Stay Strong and Stand Strong; strong together in unity and in the the Spirit of our Lord God.
