Lost and Found
I was at a loss. I was searching for a particular tool, but it was nowhere to be found. I knew I had this tool, but it wasn’t where it was supposed to live. You see, I have a system. Everything has a home. When a tool is utilized for something, it’s supposed to go back to its home, so that it can be located the next time it’s needed. It usually works well, but there are the occasional bugs in the system. I checked it’s backup spot. Not there either. I checked other places. Places where it may have possibly been left in the middle of a chore. Not in any of those places either. I was perplexed. I stood in the middle of the room with my hands on my hips, imagining the tool and when we had used it last; I was hoping for a clue. Nothing. Nada. Zip. ‘Dear Lord, where is it?’ I asked God because I didn’t have a clue what my next step would or even should be. God knew and He directed my steps. Psalms 37:23 NLT “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Before I knew it I was standing in my closet. My closet? Why am I in the closet? I was completely confused and I didn’t understand why my steps had taken me into my closet. My eyes began to scan the area, when suddenly my vision shifted up and there it was. Sitting quietly on a shelf in the closet. I laughed out loud, my confusion turning into gratitude as I thanked the Lord. When I shared the story with my husband we both had a good chuckle, but it’s really true. God delights in helping us, even with the little things.
