Yesterday’s purge resulted in a huge pile of stuff that needed a new home and today we were able share the bounty, thanks to my brother and his truck. As we finished up the purge yesterday, my husband looked over at me and said now what are we going to do with all this stuff? I didn’t know either. As I sat down for a break, I began to talk the issue over with God and the answer became clear. My brother-in-law and his truck. Now this guy is always ready to haul anything anywhere, and he has a gift for loading the most stuff into the back of a pickup truck of anyone I know. I called my sister and yes they were available and would be happy to help and boom. A few trips later and we are almost there. There is still some work to do, but the heavy lifting is behind us, for the most part anyway. As we wrapped up a long day of work, we looked back over the last few hours and found satisfaction in our labors. Our plan was the purge itself, and thankfully, God had an idea for the clean up. Proverbs 16:3 NLT “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” Apparently God has a thing for plans this week. Plans are on His mind and He continues to bring the concept up again and again. Just tonight as I sat down to read my Bible, this was the first verse I see. The Amplified version reads this way: “Commit your works to the LORD [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].” That last part is the kicker. IF. If we respond to His will and guidance. If we respond to His will means that we may have to change our preconceived ideas and go with God’s ideas. Letting go of our plans isn’t always easy, but walking in God’s plans is a lot easier in the long run. If we respond to His guidance means we should remember to listen when we talk things over with God; His guidance is wonderful. Ask a question and then listen for the answer. This technique is simple, courteous and generally reaps amazing results in every area of our lives. If we respond well to God’s will and to His guidance we can see a better outcome for all of our plans.
