The Details of Running
If we happen to be a runner, we know that it’s not all about the finish line. Finishing the race well is always the goal, but there are a multitude of details that are included. I am not a runner myself, but I happen to be married to a runner. He doesn’t jog by any stretch of the imagination, he runs. He runs fast, he runs with intention and he runs with attention to the details of running. Running well is about so many things; stamina, training, timing, intentions, and posture and it’s also about enjoying the view along the way. The finish line is the goal, but there’s a lot that goes into the race. 2 Timothy 4:7 NLT “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” Stamina, training, timing, intentions and posture can also be applied to life’s race. Stamina is about working well at whatever we are working at in our life’s journey. Being purposeful and joyful in our days work. Training ourselves well helps us accomplish our goals and contributes to the joy found in life. Timing is an important aspect of our life that can be tricky to recognize. Sometimes we can run ahead or lag behind God’s plan, so we should do our best to stay in tune with God’s intentions. Just as with anything we are hoping to accomplish, our attitude and our intentions are an important part of life. Maintaining our attention to the details and being aware of the intentions behind our actions is important. Our posture helps us with all of these aspects and more. Prayerfully reaching out to God for guidance and direction helps us run our race well. With a posture of prayer and humility, when we submit our lives to God and for God, we are sure to run our race well. Running our race well, with integrity and full of faith is the best of goals for our life’s journey and let’s not forget to enjoy the beauty of the view along the way.
