Today was one of those days that come along occasionally. I would start one thing and before I knew it, I was doing something else entirely. I was easily distracted and moved from one thing to the next without completing much of anything. I mentioned it to my husband, and we discussed my plans for the day in the hopes of resetting my priorities, but it didn’t really change my distractibility. Having a day like this could have easily caused frustration and aggravation, but God had a plan. Suddenly a text and a knock at the door, and God took about three things off my to-do list without even trying. Instead of missing out on my plan, God was providing an unexpected blessing. Luke 12:29-32 MSG “What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.” This particular verse was so very apropos for a day like today. ‘Don’t be afraid of missing out’. When things aren’t going exactly the way we expect them to, God may have a different plan in mind. If I had managed to get started on any of those things I had planned, I would have missed out on God’s plan and His plan was a whole lot better. Today God’s plan included things that I hadn’t considered, but it sure made for a great day and loads of accomplishments. When we aren’t so preoccupied with getting what we want, when we relax and go with the flow, we might just get the opportunity to respond to God’s plan. God’s plans are always better than our plans anyway.
