Psalm 23: 1-6 NLT
"The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever."
You have everything you could possibly need. You sit beside a cool stream in the middle of a meadow that is so peaceful and you are filled with contentment. The beauty that surrounds you is more breathtaking than anything you have ever seen before. You sit. Completely comfortable as you rest, relaxing beside a calming stream in the most beautiful scene imaginable. Jesus is there with you. As He stands next to you He is your protection, your peace and your strength. He stands watch as you rest by the stream. He is on the lookout for anything that would come between you and Him. Like a Good Shepherd Jesus stands at the ready with His protection and His very presence fills you with comfort. No fear, no danger too great, no sense of impending anything. Total comfort. Total peace. Total contentment. Jesus provides a meal that is better than anything you've every tasted before. Delicious and satisfying. Contentment. Comfort. He anoints your head with oil. Jesus, Himself, anointing your head with oil. Saying prayers over you as you sit at His feet. Fullness of peace. Fullness of comfort. Fullness. More than overflowing in Comfort, Contentment and Fullness. Rested and rejuvenated, dining with Jesus, prayed for and anointed with oil. Blessed and assured that today is full of all the promises of forever. Comfort is found in the knowledge that the love of Jesus is goodness, mercy and flowing with His unfailing love.
Comfort. This passage is the ultimate definition of comfort. Comfort. Because Jesus IS our Comfort. Find comfort in the Comforter.
