God Talks ~ We Listen

Sometimes, we get in our own way. Well, if we're honest, it can happen more than we'd like to admit. We second guess ourselves right into a ditch and then we complain about how trouble follows us around like we have a magnet hanging from our necks. We turn left instead of right and we end up dazed and confused, asking ourselves what just happened and how did I get here. Now Job, he had some serious trouble. When trouble came at Job, he whined and complained to his friends, and his friends commiserated with him and then they urged him into more whining and complaining. It went on and on, one person talking and others talking and then everyone talking all at once. That is until one friend finally spoke some truth into his life.

Job 34:16 MSG “So, Job, use your head; this is all pretty obvious." Use your head. God doesn't mess up, we mess up. Our problem is that we don't always listen. Maybe we think we have all the answers. Maybe we don't use our heads. Maybe we don't hear the urging of God. Maybe we forget to talk to God in first place. God has a big job. He is holding the universe in His Hands. He is controlling the comings and goings of planets, and the movement of stars and comets. He is constantly attentive to the wind and the rain and oceans and atmospheres. He is the ultimate multitasker and He cares about our life and He loves us oh so much. Then there is us. We are running from here to there and we in so much of a hurry that we forget to use our heads. We don't think to ask God about our circumstances. Yep. We forget to consult with God altogether. We struggle to even think about asking for help and if we do decide to ask God, we struggle to listen to His answer. We are so busy trying to come up with our next question that we fail to listen. We don't use our heads. Two ears and one mouth, doubles our odds for listening, but that doesn’t stop us. We chatter away anyway. Job 42: 1-4 MSG "Job answered God: “I’m convinced: You can do anything and everything. Nothing and no one can upset your plans. You asked, ‘Who is this muddying the water, ignorantly confusing the issue, second-guessing my purposes?’ I admit it. I was the one. I babbled on about things far beyond me, made small talk about wonders way over my head. You told me, ‘Listen, and let me do the talking. Let me ask the questions. You give the answers.’" God loves us, and He tells how much He loves us all the time. He tells us that He takes pleasure in providing for His children (that’s us). We are a joy to God. He loves to hear from us, to help us and to guide us. Job finally gets the message and he shares the answer with us. "I admit it, I was the one." This is the moment that Job realizes he was standing in his own way, and he gives us the best advice ever. God talks, we listen. Ask God for His advice, for His guidance and help. He teaches and instructs us as we go through life. Learn the easier way to live from Job’s experience: ask God first, and then listen. God talks. We listen.
