We have so many choices in our lives. One of those choices is how we choose to accomplish our life's goals. We can choose the high road or we can choose the low road. We could choose paths that hurt ourselves and others as we step over and on other people on the way to our goals. Paths like these may seem easier, but it’s not the best way to achieve success. Effort plus time and ability equals accomplishment. Deciding to try, now that’s is a successful strategy in itself. Doing the right thing doesn't take more work than doing the wrong thing, but it does take effort. It does take responsibility. It does take character. We can talk a big game, but it's so much more important to actually do something. Who you are in real life is much more important than any false persona you might project. Building character; now that's the real deal.
2 Peter 1:5-8 MSG “So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus.” This passage teaches us how to build good things into our lives, complementing our faith with character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love. These are the ideals that promote us in life and as believers. We have the best character example in Jesus. He didn't need hype or propaganda to accomplish anything. He got out there and got the job done. Yes, He had the disciples to help Him, but He was always right there in the thick of things. Taking care of business with integrity and character. Actions with excellence. Getting to the top of anything takes time and effort. Work. Working hard to achieve a goal is not popular or easy, but it is effective. Simply having a skill isn't enough. Being a people person will only get you so far. Speaking well will garner success for awhile. Charisma by itself is ineffective. Building our character will reward our lives every time. Choose to be of good character.
