God Is There
God doesn’t bring bad things or suffering to us to ‘teach us a lesson’. Jesus told us that there were going to be trials and sorrows, but that even when we are going through them, He would bring us peace (John 16:33). Suffering in itself is a by product of this world, not a tool that God uses for teaching. I do, however, believe that God will grow us through the process when suffering does happens. Today I was reading a post about one man’s journey through a terrible trial. He shared the pain of the struggle, the presence of God as he journey through the process, and the joy that he found on the other side. When things do go wrong (cuz they will), when trials happen (cuz they do), we will experience grief (cuz we do), we will also, eventually, make our way through the process, and God is there with us every step of the way. Romans 8:28 AMP “And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.” Causes all things to work together for good, means that no matter what struggle we may be going through, God will use it for good. Whatever tries to knock us down, take our joy or just plain pulls the rug out from under our feet …God will bring something good out of it; that is a certainty. The suffering that was meant to cause us to take our eyes off Jesus, off the love of God, to bring us down, is changed into something good and something purposeful. We may wail and cry, stomp our feet, complain and fuss at God about the pain and grief and the why’s of it all, God is there. When we don’t have any more questions or words left to yell or cry out with; when we can only murmur and mumble in our prayers, God is there. And then … when we finally ask God to help us find peace in the middle of our storm, our Father will comfort us and give us peace. When we come to the end of ourselves and reach out for Him, God is there. God is with us through all the terrible things that happen, all the trouble and all the anger we feel over it, and He knows how that feels to us, He understands, and He will bring us comfort and He will bring us peace. We have to hold onto the peace, not let our trust falter and believe that God’s got this! No matter the trouble. God’s got this and we will come out on the other side better because God is there walking through it all with us.
