We Never Run Out
Frustrations come in all sizes, from the mundane to the profound. We were running late for wrestling practice. We tried to leave on time, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we were now leaving behind schedule. As we hit red light after red light, frustration was voiced, but the lights were only doing their jobs. Those pesky left turns across traffic were frustrated by the oncoming traffic, and then we had to sit through another light cycle. As we were talking, I asked my grandson if he had asked God to help us get there on time. He quickly grasped his hands together and sent his petition heavenward. Then he asked me a profound question; can we run out of opportunities to pray? He had heard that maybe we only get so many opportunities to pray, we had be be sure first, because we only get so many chances. Thank God that's not true! 1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV “pray without ceasing” ‘Pray without ceasing’ is a stand out verse that comprehensively debunks this erroneous information. 1st Thessalonians. Chapter 5. Verse 17. Pray without ceasing means all the time. Pray without ceasing means that we never run out of opportunities to pray. Pray without ceasing means that God hears our mumbling and crying prayers, our ‘in our head’ prayers, just like He hears our out loud prayers. Pray without ceasing means that we can communicate with Jesus on a regular basis, day in and day out, for our entire lives. We never bore Him, we never intimidate Him, we never cause Him not to listen, and we absolutely never run out of chances to pray (and don’t forget the listening part of the conversation either) to the Lord. Pray without ceasing means that we can never run out of chances to take our concerns, our fears, our joyful moments, our frustrations, our thankfulness, and our love to the Lord. We can never run out of prayers.
