Today as I reflected on Easter, I was reminded of one particular movie whose scenes were taken from the pages of the Bible; a movie that detailed the suffering that Jesus endured for us. ‘The Passion of the Christ’ helps us understand how much Jesus suffered and what He went through; what He endured for all of us. As I was looking up the title to verify my memory, I realized the movie was released in 2004. Although I’ve only seen it once, it feels like I saw it yesterday; the images are seared in my mind. I know that as bad as the images were in the movie, the reality was so much worse. Hebrews 2:16-18 TPT "For it is clear that he didn’t do this for the angels, but for all the sons and daughters of Abraham. This is why he had to be a Man and take hold of our humanity in every way. He made us his brothers and sisters and became our merciful and faithful King-Priest before God; as the One who removed our sins to make us one with him. He suffered and endured every test and temptation, so that he can help us every time we pass through the ordeals of life.” Jesus did it all for us; you, me, and that other guy too. Jesus loves us so much that He had to become a man, a person just like us, so that He could understand everything that we go through in life. The experiences of joy and sorrow, laughter and pain, heartache and love, as well as the experiences of encouragement, disappointment and temptation. Jesus experienced life so that He could understand, so that He could stand up for us, so that He could advocate on our behalf before our Father, and to help us every time we pass through the ordeals of life. Jesus did it all for us. Jesus lived and died so that we can live a life more abundant through Him. As we reflect on Easter and the truth of that weekend so long ago, may what Jesus did for us, speak directly to our hearts and be demonstrated in our lives.
