Dazed and Confused
Dazed and confused seems to be the way we are walking around in our lives lately. Not so much like the movie we may think of as we hear these words, yet the way we are feeling these days does feel a bit like a work of fiction has come to life in the real world. Up, down and all around and our heads are spinning with the information, or in some cases, the lack there of. The news stories and various agencies we depend on for reporting genuine information continue to change their reports with each passing day. From one day to next day, and something else is being reported entirely differently. Our dazed and confused status is the end result.
John 16:1 TPT
“I have told you this so that you would not surrender to confusion or doubt.”
Jesus is preaching to the choir right here. Jesus is clear; do not give into confusion and doubt, and He’s talking to us. He is talking to us about the coming of the Holy Spirit and how He will affect our daily life challenges. Affect and effect are so close to one another that it can be hard to choose, but in this case, affect is the right choice. Affect is usually a verb, and it means to impact or influence. Effect is usually a noun, and is the result of such change. Affect: to influence. Effect: the impact of that influence. So ... the impact of our dazed and confused thoughts should be influenced by the workings of the Holy Spirit in our lives and that includes our thought lives. That affect, the influence of the Holy Spirit, is then walked out in our daily lives effecting the world we walk around in for the better. It’s up to us.
