Green Pastures

Today, as we move through these uncharted waters of life, know that we can find the comfort and peace that Jesus provides. Psalm 23 tells us all about how.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”

Psalm 23:1-6 KJV

The Lord is our shepherd and that means that Jesus watches over us. Day and night and night and day He watches over us. He watches over us, like a shepherd watches over his flock. Keeping harm at bay and chasing after the lost lambs. He provides for our needs; not our wants mind you, but our needs. When things get overwhelming we can stop and go right to the place of peace that He provides. That green, green pasture that has a stream of fresh cleansing water trickling sweetly nearby. When the worries and stresses of this world crash around us, we can take a seat in this spot, resting at His feet and find peace. When we realize that our cup is running on empty, we can know that Jesus’ cup never runs dry; in fact it overflows. All we have to do is sit down in this sweet sweet spot and feel the love and favor as it cascade down upon us. Surely goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives and THEN we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever. Amen!
