Heads Up, Crowns Straight

I looked down today and my necklace caught my eye. The pendant says ‘Daughter of the King’. My sister gave me the necklace and it means a lot to me. It’s a reminder of who I am; I am the daughter of the King; the King of King’s.

That reminder is something that we each need. That reminder that we are worthy; not because of anything that we have done, but because our Father thinks we are worthy. There is no one in the world who loves us more or delights in us the way that our Father God does. It is because of that love that our own crown sits squarely on our heads. When we lose sight of that, we lose our sense of worthiness. We end up putting our crowns on a shelf in a closet. Not just any old shelf either, but the high up one, in the back, with lots of stuff shoved in front of it. We can hide it so well that we forget where it even is. We have to guard against forgetting that we are loved and cherished by the King of Kings. Sons and daughters of the most High God, we are loved and we are cherished. Heads up. Crowns straight.

1 Corinthians‬ ‭9:25‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Now every athlete who [goes into training and] competes in the games is disciplined and exercises self-control in all things. They do it to win a crown that withers, but we [do it to receive] an imperishable [crown that cannot wither].”

The thing that we have to guard against is thinking that we are all that and a bag of chips because of that crown. We, the we that makes up us - all the people - we can (tend to, might, sometimes we do) get on our soap box and talk to high heaven, but ... we might find that we are really just be talking to ourselves. Sometimes we might believe that others have obviously misinterpreted what God said, after all God speaks to us and we heard such and such, so if so and so doesn’t agree with us then they are just wrong ... or some such nonsense. Our heads can get so big that our crowns end up looking more like thimbles.

Dialogues. Discussions. Discoveries. Conversations. Job, Jonah, Moses, Abraham, Samuel, Elijah, Gideon ... different perspectives, different conversations, same God. We have to stop fighting. Heads up. Crowns straight.
