Made from Mud
Psalm 103: 6-14 MSG
“GOD is sheer mercy and grace; not easily angered, he’s rich in love. He doesn’t endlessly nag and scold, nor hold grudges forever. He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve, nor pay us back in full for our wrongs. As high as heaven is over the earth, so strong is his love to those who fear him. And as far as sunrise is from sunset, he has separated us from our sins. As parents feel for their children, GOD feels for those who fear him. He knows us inside and out, keeps in mind that we’re made of mud.“
As I read this passage this evening I was all at once thankful, in awe and tickled. I know, I know, it doesn’t make any sense, but there you have it. Let me see if I can put my though into words. Here goes ...
Thankful because we are loved. Loved when we don’t deserved it. Loved and forgiven when we don’t deserve it. Love, shown grace AND mercy when we don’t deserve it. Loved even though He knows us inside and out. Loved.
In awe because with all of that, our Father doesn’t hold grudges or keep track of our wrong doings. Instead He separates us from them ... as far as the East is from the West. As high as heaven is from the earth, and I’m not talking just past our atmosphere here, but heaven. As far as the sunrise is from the sunset, and we all know that those two things will never exist in the same time or space. Separated from our sins. Forgiven.
Tickled because He remembers that we are all just made from mud. <grin> He is in such love with us that He reminds Himself that we are, after all, only made of mud. <grin> Still tickled because, there is our Father God, reminding Himself that HE did create us out of mud. <grin and giggle> I think of Adam, but I picture a little child covered from head to toe in mud...and that is ALL of us. <tickled and giggling> That’s it. That’s the thing. All PEOPLE are the same in the eyes of our Father God and we are cherished. Cherished.
Loved, forgiven, and cherished ... and don’t forget ... yep ... we’re made from mud. <big grin>
