Squeaky Wheels

Murmurs and rumblings are all over social media. Depending on our political belief system, there is always something we can be offended by or that we want to defend wholeheartedly. Lately it seems that it is the loudest and noisiest that is the only one who is heard. ‘The squeaky wheel get the oil’ is how the saying goes, and that means, that as a society, we just want the noise to stop, but we also know that we are each responsible for our own actions.

Philippians 2:14-15 AMP

“Do everything without murmuring or questioning [the providence of God], so that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish in the midst of a [morally] crooked and [spiritually] perverted generation, among whom you are seen as bright lights [beacons shining out clearly] in the world [of darkness].”

Guile is defined as slyness and cunning which means that the actions of the guile are less than honorable. We can choose to be responsible and be intelligent without being sly or cunning, while honoring our faith and our political beliefs all at the same time. We must remain morally connected to our spiritual beliefs and so that we can also be that bright light on a hill. We must research and discover truths, not just listen to whom ever is the loudest. We have a responsibility to be beacons of light while still having the fortitude to proclaim our political beliefs; uncontaminated by the squeaky wheels and all the noise, but holding true to the light. We can’t be a blessing without God’s blessing, so we must make sure our minds are on Him as we go about our civic duty. We can be good citizens, who make an impact on our cultural and political viewpoint, while also being a positive role model for our community; the only oil needed is the oil of joy and hope that is found in our faith.
