Overflow

December 22, 2016

Joy! Let Joy Overflow! I was reading about joy today and was struck by these passages. Joy comes from love! Who knew? I mean we know Joy is the result of knowing Jesus, right? That Joy develops out of our sense of happiness or at the very least out of a sense of contentment in our faith and in the knowledge of Jesus. Did you realize that Joy is actually an abundance of love, an overflow! Woot! Woot!

John 15: 16-17   NLT

"You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. This is my command: Love each other."

Jesus chose you. You accepted the invitation, but you had to be invited to the party first. Exclusive? No, this party is totally inclusive as far as the invites go. God first loves us because He created us. Created us in His image. His Children. We are given, gifted really, with free will. The invitation to be a part of the family is sent out. Jesus knocks and calls. He sends out E-vites, Tweets and Instagram notifications. Then, it's up to us. We have to say yes to the invitation, to becoming a member of the family of God. Part of the official membership gift bag includes an abundance of love.

John 15: 11-12 NLT

"I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you."

God so loved the world that He sent His own Son, Jesus. Jesus gave up everything for us. He became a man and gave His life for us. He became our bridge to heaven, our spotless lamb; our counselor; our everything. For all of us. When we accept, we are filled with love. We are filled to overflowing with His Love to share and show. The same way He loves us. Undeserving as we are. Loved. Love in order to give love. His Love is our Joy that overflows. Joy is Love!

Love each other! Joyful Love!
