Merry Christmas

December 25, 2016

Luke 2:8-14  KJV

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

I don't know about you, but I can't read this passage without hearing in the voice of Linus, the Peanuts character. That is such a powerful and moving scene. Have you ever noticed that during his presentation of the story of the birth of Jesus, that Linus drops his trusty blanket.  He gets to "Fear Not" and suddenly Linus is so filled with the power of God, so passionately filled with God's word and truth, that even his security blanket is forgotten as he rises up under the banner of the Lord. May your Faith and Trust in Jesus fill you up, so that you too might drop your security blanket and rise, powerfully and passionately, up under the banner of the Lord.  Merry Christmas and Peace Be Unto You and Yours!
