Blessed by God is right where I want to be. Right there. Sticking with God through thick and thin. Trusting God even when I think my boat might be leaking. Trusting God to see me through my circumstances. Deeply rooted by a river that never ends.
This Word from God in Jeremiah gives us hope. Hope for those times when we think we're going under. When we feel like everything in our lives has sprung a leak, and we feel like giving up and giving in to the pressure. Hope for those times when we feel like we are losing ground. Hope when we become resentful and ungrateful because it feels like we take one step forward and two (or three) steps back. Hope for those times when we feel lost and become so afraid that we lose sight of God.
'Never a worry through the hottest of summers, never dropping a leaf. Serene and calm through droughts, bearing fresh fruit every season.'
Never worried, serene and calm and all the while bearing fresh fruit. Now that takes trust and stick-to-it-ness. 'Let go and let God' is the blueprint on trust and how to handle worry. Trust is believing in God's ability to help us handle our circumstances. Staying serene and calm in the midst of our storms requires us to trust God. Bearing fruit all the while requires us to stick with God. Being Blessed requires us to act Blessed. It's a verb, an action word.
When we feel like our circumstances are going to take us under, that's when God's blessings rescue us. Trust that He knows your circumstances and that He is walking each step with you. Trust in His unfailing love for you. Stick with God like you're stuck there with gorilla glue and held in place with duck tape. The whole roll if necessary. Never give up on God. He never gives up on you.
Jeremiah 17: 7-8 MSG
"But blessed is the man who trusts me, God, the woman who sticks with God. They’re like trees replanted in Eden, putting down roots near the rivers— Never a worry through the hottest of summers, never dropping a leaf, Serene and calm through droughts, bearing fresh fruit every season."
