How do we reach those people. The people who are within our sphere of influence, who do not have a relationship with Jesus. We reach out to them, talk to them, share a meal with them. We encounter them, so that through us, they might encounter Jesus.
How? The most important way is to live your life in relationship with the Lord. Your everyday walking around and talking life as an act of faith, giving and sharing kindness and love. Your life on display reaches and teaches more than you'll ever know.
As we go about our lives we will connect with family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers. Sharing life with others is part of our make up as human beings. Whether it's a chance encounter or we purposefully pursue those who do not have a relationship with Jesus, we may find ourselves treading on the edge of darkness. Make sure that you bring plenty light.
Notice that Jesus had plenty of light with Him wherever He went. He had a group of people that went everywhere with him. He didn't travel alone. He didn't share meals alone. He didn't encounter the lost alone. Jesus reached out to the lost, the people on the fringe of society, the unclean, the ill and He even dined with 'disreputable characters'. Yes, He did, but He didn't go alone. He always walked in a group and we should follow His example. We too, should bring plenty of light.
Our relationship with Jesus means that we love one another. Our great commission is to spread the Good News. Be smart. Bring a friend or three or more when traveling in or near darkness.
Share the Good News. Live your life as an example of His love, your words as a testimony of His love and your walk as a beacon of His light.
Matthew 9:10 MSG
"Later when Jesus was eating supper at Matthew’s house with his close followers, a lot of disreputable characters came and joined them."
