Worship. It's about singing and a whole lot more.
God is looking for 'those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship'. No need for fancy words or a religious show. God is looking for you. The real you. Just you.
'It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God.' That means that your real life is an act of worship. Whatever you're doing and however you're doing it. Even when we miss the mark. He is there. Admit it, we all mess up from time to time, so what do we do? Realize your mistake, admit your weakness in an area, ask for forgiveness and the strength to make the necessary changes and move on. There's another hour coming to change your attitude. We each have opportunities to adjust our worship, for the better, throughout our day. God is there with you.
He is there in the morning when you don't have any cream for your coffee. He is there when your kids won't get outta bed. He is there on your drive to work, and that car cuts you off. He is there when you answer that call from a frustrated and frazzled customer. He is there when you are eating lunch with your friends and the talk turns into gossip. He is there when you are called on the carpet by your boss. He is there when you're caught in the traffic jam on your way home. He is there when your kid yells 'I hate you'. He is there when you tuck that same kid into bed a couple hours later. He is there when your friend calls because their marriage is in the toilet. He is there whether you tell Him good night or not. He is there when you're laughing, crying, talking, yelling, sobbing, giggling, zoning and snoring. He is there.
'Those who worship Him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.'
Adoration. Adoration means deep love and respect. In our everyday living we should want to live the way we know God wants us to live. Not out a sense of condemnation, but because we love and respect Him.
Worship. Yes, it's about singing and a whole lot more. Adjust yourself and your attitude as needed. Strive for a life dedicated to true Worship in Adoration.
John 4:23-24 MSG
"It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.”
