Parables. An uncommon name for a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. In today's common use of language, we use the term parables rarely, yet we actually utilize them everyday. We call them examples, and we tell a story. For example; one time I did this or that ... and we tell a story that we hope will provide a lesson or an inspiration. We relate something that happened to us, so that others might benefit from our experience.
That's why we find parables throughout the Gospels. Jesus shared stories. Stories that we can find relative to our own lives. The best part is that we have the opportunity, we get the privilege to learn from His very own Words.
Matthew 13: 16-17 MSG
"But you have God-blessed eyes—eyes that see! And God-blessed ears—ears that hear! A lot of people, prophets and humble believers among them, would have given anything to see what you are seeing, to hear what you are hearing, but never had the chance."
We have that chance. We are part of the privileged people who have God Blessed eyes that see and God Blessed ears that hear. Look and see, hear and learn. It's a privilege for you and for me. Don't take your privilege for granted.
