Mustard seeds are itty bitty little things. Teeny tiny, by most any standard, yet this is the model that Jesus chose to use to explain faith. Just a little bit, goes a long way. Truthfully, it has always been a difficult comparison for me. Don't we need to have faith? I mean, shouldn't we all have a tremendous amount of faith? That's just the problem that Jesus was trying to explain. Faith. It's not about us, it's about God.
We can't make anything happen to the mountain on our own. Faith is believing in all the possibilities and potentials contained in God's plan for our lives. During the good times and during the bad times. Especially during the bad times. Faith. Faith is believing in the God of the possible. The God who moves mountains.
If God can take a itty bitty seed and grow a tree, then He can certainly grow something amazing in our lives too. When our faith, our little mustard seed of faith, is planted in fertile soil, we will grow into a strong and fruitful tree. Trees that produce more and more seeds. Seeds of faith that can be shared and then produce new seeds of faith.
Matthew 17:20 NLT
"You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
We can't move a mountain, but God can. When we have faith in God, that mountain can be moved. Just a teeny tiny, itty bitty amount of Faith goes a long way. Faith is knowing that nothing is impossible with God. Absolutely nothing!
