Assurance

August 28, 2017

Disaster. Calamity. Catastrophe. Words that affect our emotions and our minds. Today's weather reports out of Texas may be effecting you personally. If you, your family or loved ones live in the area that has been disrupted by the recent hurricane, you understand the journey. Disrupted sounds so vague and completely wrong for something that has caused such havoc. Scared, unsure and overwhelmed might be better terms, but we have an even better way to think about this situation.

Refuge. Safety. Security. Faith. Assurance. These words are part of the threads of our faith that we are tightly holding close to our hearts and minds. These words remind us that we have a firm foundation of faith in our God. No matter the turmoil or disruption, no matter the circumstance, we know that we have God and more importantly, God has us.

Hebrews 11:1 NIV
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

Yes, we may be looking for updates and news, but at our core we can be assured in our faith. As we pray for safety and comfort for the first responders, our neighbors and loved ones we are assured. As we pray for wisdom and revelation for our government leaders and community service providers we are assured. As we pray for knowledge and discernment for the helps networks and beneficial assistance groups we are assured. As we pray for the people who are affected and scared we are assured. We are assured that we have God and more importantly, God has us.

We are assured that God alone is our refuge, our place of safety and we trust in Him. Always. We have God, and God has us. Faith Assurance.

Psalm 91:2 NLT
"This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him."
