Guardian

September 9, 2017

'Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. Angels watch me through the night, and give me good dreams till morning light'.

The bedtime prayer I prayed with my kids and still pray with my grandkids. Yep. I changed it up a bit. 'If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take'. Scary words with all the ifs. God's promises are not iffy. God's promises are true and His presence is very real in our lives.

We know that God is there, always. No ifs, ands or buts. Our God is there always, because He loves us. He provides and protects us whatever our circumstances. We know that the Lord is our shelter and strength.

In the coming days we may be experiencing some scary moments. Situations that are unforeseen or unusual. The thing to remember is that our strength comes from God. Our God made the heavens, and the earth, and the mountains and the oceans and the winds. That same God is our Guardian, right at our side to protect us — Shielding us from whatever comes our way.

So...when and if we are feeling scared or unsure in the storm, there are no words more comforting than the Word of God.

Psalm 121:1-8
"I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains. He won’t let you stumble, your Guardian God won’t fall asleep. Not on your life! Israel’s Guardian will never doze or sleep. God’s your Guardian, right at your side to protect you— Shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from moonstroke. God guards you from every evil, he guards your very life. He guards you when you leave and when you return, he guards you now, he guards you always."

He guards us always. ALWAYS!
