Jeremiah 32:27 NLT
“I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?"
God has this way of taking the awful and turning it into amazing. The key is that we have to let Him. You've heard the quote 'Let go and let God'. God calls on us to let go ... but what is it we are supposed to let go of?
Control is a big one. We can try to do and be everything to everyone and still have absolutely no control over anything. We give our own self control away by trying to be in control of everyone else. We can't (can NOT) control anyone but ourselves. We can't do more and be more in order to make someone else change. We can't get in the way of someone else's choices in an attempt to get them to change. While these things might appear to work for a season, the only thing that really changes is our ability to change for someone else.
Outward control is fleeting. We can choose to be flexible and bend and bend until we are just a droopy branch. Droopy branches are in the way. Droopy branches need to be pruned. Pruning changes droopy branches into strong powerful limbs. Limbs on trees with deep roots provide strength, respite, and comfort.
Colossians 2:7 NLT
"Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness."
Our boundaries become strong when we are deeply rooted in the foundations of Christ. When we are deeply rooted in the teachings of Jesus we know that our strength comes from Him. We understand that when we are weak or nervous or scared that we can lean on the Lord for support. It's here that we learn to let go and let God. Let go of the things we cannot change. When we are able to let go, God can finally get in there and start working. Ouch! Yep. Sometimes it is us. We are the ones blocking the change that we were trying so hard to make happen. When we change our perspective to God control all sorts of amazing things happen.
Psalm 9:10 NLT
"Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you."
God is there. Try taking a step back and watch Him do His thing.
