We go out into the world every day. Well ... most days ... we normally have contact with other people. Friends and family, coworkers and restaurant servers, repair people, the people at the grocery store and so many other people along the way. Daily we go about our lives and we connect with other people. Today's modes of communication have changed our lives. Social media has become the most common mode of communication between people all over the world. Our world has gotten smaller and our community's have gotten much much larger.
Isaiah 6:8 NLT
Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
Isaiah had an encounter with Almighty God. Not an everyday encounter with a neighbor or even an important introduction with a community leader. Isaiah had an amazing and transforming encounter with Almighty God. The Lord Himself in all His Glory. The Lord asked him 'Whom shall I send?'
Isaiah passionately raised his hand. Send me. Send me. Passion, awe, and inspiration filled his heart. Without hesitation he took on the task. Isaiah was sent. He was sent to speak as a messenger to his people. He went.
Today, you and I are called too. Yes, we might be called to travel to far off lands and share the gospel in person one on one. We might be called to head down to our local community center and share our lives with others as a way to share the gospel. We might be the person God sends to engage our friends and neighbors. We might be the one person who shares that particular post on social media that changes someone's perspective on the things of God. The luxury of today is that with social media, we can be sent as emissaries while sitting in the comfort of our own living rooms.
Positive passion with a message. Make a difference and be a difference. That's what we are called to do. Be the one who responds with 'send me'. Then get out there and make a positive impact. Make a difference. Be the difference. Go!
