I love laughing. My husband is famous for his jokes and one liners that keep me in stitches. My daughters are a chip of the old block and add to the mayhem of fun and laughter. I tell my youngest all the time that she should go into stand up. My eldest daughter has a wonderful way of writing and texting me little things that make smile and LOL (that is shorthand for 'laugh out loud' for those who might not be aware). They are all a hoot. We laugh together over the silly and the unexpected moments that bring joy into our lives.
Laughter. It's the first memory I have that connects me to learning from the Lord. I learned that laughter is from God, from God. In the KJV of Psalm 100:1 "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands." It was and still is my favorite verse. I call it my life verse. Laugh. Laugh often. Laugh well. Be joyful and I am (God) joyful with you. Sing and shout and be happy. It's the best way to live.
Laughter makes us feel good, at least most of the time. The occasional glitch occurs when we laugh out loud during inappropriate moments. Yes, I myself, have been known to laugh out during studious moments that require me to stifle the sudden sounds that are escaping my mouth. Even then it is a release of joy. Laughter is good for us. The healing properties of laughter have been proven important to our health and wellness. Laughing is something that we do when we are happy, and most importantly, when we are sad. Laughing can dispels the sadness cloud by reminding us to be grateful, even when we feel loss and grief. Remembering the happy moments that brought us joy can push the darkness right out into the light of the love that we have known and cherish. Laughing brings out the joy that we know is found in the love of God. Laughter helps us remember the promises of God over our lives.
Psalm 100:1-5 KJV
"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations."
Laughing is good thing. God says so. Make a joyful noise. Serve God with gladness and with a happy, joyful heart. Sing about it. Shout it out. We are His people and He is our God. Say it out loud. Sing it out and share the news. God is good and He loves us forever and ever and ever. Laugh and be joyful. It's a 'God' thing.
