'Wow! How many jobs have you had?' My grandson exclaimed as I was cutting his hair today. Yes, at one point I apprenticed as a barber. As a military family we moved fairly regularly. Let's face it, we moved a lot. What was a great job in one place, was not available in the next place. I learn to adapt and to broaden my perspective. In the process, what I learned from each job, became part of my arsenal for the next one.
Galatians 6:4-5 MSG
"Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life."
Galatians 6:5 tells us to 'Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that.' Explore yourself and then sink yourself into whatever work you've been given. Whole heartedly. Give it your best and give God the rest. Today's opportunity may look different from tomorrow's purpose. Give each day every opportunity to be our best day. We won't know the reason, until the season arrives for us to utilize our past experiences. Make them worthwhile.
The passage goes on to express the reasoning behind the process. Each of us is responsible to do our creative best with our own life. Creativity is one of our Father's most miraculous attributes. He created the heavens and the earth. He created the seas and the lands, the sun and the moon. Each day He continues working on creation as He creates the plants, birds, the fish, the animals and as He creates each one of us. Individually and uniquely. Creative is definitely one of God's fortes.
Make your mark on the world with gusto and enthusiasm. Be encouraged and encouraging to yourself and those in your sphere of influence. Do your best with the task at hand. Grow and learn and spread your wings with whatever is in front of you. Be open to opportunities and change, energetic and thoughtful as you work, remembering to spread the joy of the Lord within your world. Create and invent and make the world a better place.
Our part, our responsibility, is to create the best version of ourselves that we can be. We do that by doing our best, to be our best, everyday. That's our creative responsibility.
